Last Saturday at Pelham Bay, Frank Finnegan was not to be denied. He was the clubhouse leader on another occasion this year, only to be nipped out by someone playing in the last group. But his 43 points were five clear of both Kieran O’Sullivan and John Solon (38 pts) this time. Closest to Pins were won by Gary Purwin ( 8th)and Mike Curtin (12th). Congratulations to all!
Next Sunday, September 16 will be the annual Memorial tournament at the Links. Also, a lot of competitions are still to be decided, time is winding down and deadlines are approaching. Please look at the website and if you have a match to play, inform me when signing up……Jim
This past Saturday, our group completed between 11 and 13 holes when dark storm clouds produced lightning and we were called off the course. Heavy rain over the ensuing 90 minutes prevented the resumption of the round. All participants have gotten (or will get) their $10 entry fee back and the Links graciously offered rain checks……..Next Tuesday morning we will take on Spillane’s in the Links Founders cup semi-final. If you were on the 14 man roster last week, I will assume you are playing ( Mike Curtin excepted, he already told me he can’t make it). Of course, it would be nice to field a team of 16 so if you are interested in playing for Woodlawn, please contact me….. Jim
Our times have been moved up our 1st group is going off at 7:12
7:12 Bell 6, McCrimlisk 12 CC Elias16, G Courtman 17

5th group Colgan 18, Mulligan 19, Carey 14, T. O’Meara 15
Jimmy is not playing this week so there will be no weather report given check it yourself.
First of all, we need a few mor guys to field a team against Spillane’s on Tuesday August 14 at 9:30 AM at the Links. We have an opportunity to compete in an inter club event for the first time in a couple of years and it would be shameful not to get the minimum team of 14. So far we have:
Jim Gilland and Bill Marshall ( partners)…..that is 12 , need a minimum of 14 or we will have to hand the match to Splillane’s
Also, next Sunday August 5th , we are back at Split Rock at 7:20….so far, have only heard from both the Curtin’s.
Last event, the President’s Cup, at Links July 22:
1st Dean Marraccini net 73
2nd Jim Murphy net 74
3rd Kieran O’Sullivan net 76
CTP 7th Gerry Murphy 10th Denis O’Sulivan low gross: Dean 77
This coming Sunday we will have an outing starting t 11:03 at The Links at Union ValeIt is also President’s Prize day and Darren Talbot would like a good turnout….,.Sign-up is open until 4PMSaturday.
So far, the following have said they will attend:
On Saturday last at Pelham Bay in ideal conditions, no one went super-low but there were about 8 scores in the 36-37 point area. However, the two scores that prevailed were 39 points for Kieran Brosnan ( 1st) and 38 for Frank Finnegan ( 2nd). PJ Colga topped the 37 point contingent for 3rd on Tie-breakers.
CTP’s were won by Bill Marshall, Peter Byrne, and Gerry Murphy.
