Last Saturday at Pelham Bay, Frank Finnegan was not to be denied. He was the clubhouse leader on another occasion this year, only to be nipped out by someone playing in the last group. But his 43 points were five clear of both Kieran O’Sullivan and John Solon (38 pts) this time. Closest to Pins were won by Gary Purwin ( 8th)and Mike Curtin (12th). Congratulations to all!
Next Sunday, September 16 will be the annual Memorial tournament at the Links. Also, a lot of competitions are still to be decided, time is winding down and deadlines are approaching. Please look at the website and if you have a match to play, inform me when signing up……Jim
This past Saturday, our group completed between 11 and 13 holes when dark storm clouds produced lightning and we were called off the course. Heavy rain over the ensuing 90 minutes prevented the resumption of the round. All participants have gotten (or will get) their $10 entry fee back and the Links graciously offered rain checks……..Next Tuesday morning we will take on Spillane’s in the Links Founders cup semi-final. If you were on the 14 man roster last week, I will assume you are playing ( Mike Curtin excepted, he already told me he can’t make it). Of course, it would be nice to field a team of 16 so if you are interested in playing for Woodlawn, please contact me….. Jim
